Adrian Luty is a parasitic/infectious diseases immunologist. He was awarded both his MSc and PhD by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Dr Luty has lived and worked extensively in sub-Saharan Africa (Sierra Leone, Gabon, Tanzania, Benin) and has also conducted projects in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. His research has been predominantly on malaria, with a particular focus on pregnancy and infancy. In his early and late career, Dr Luty has also conducted research on helminths.

Dr Luty has more than 30 years of experience of research on Plasmodium falciparum malaria, with more than half that time living and working in sub-Saharan Africa. He has managed and/or been involved in numerous clinical trials, including early stage vaccine studies.
